Maintenance & Storage Tips for Long-Term Performance

Whether you’re using your Melissani M1 daily or storing it between seasons or trips, proper maintenance and care can dramatically extend the life of your unit and ensure your water stays fresh, clean, and safe.

Follow these simple tips to keep your machine in peak condition for years to come.

Regular Maintenance Checklist

Every 2 Weeks – Quick Maintenance

  • Run a cleaning cycle: Hold the “Clean” button for 3 seconds.
  • Wipe down the spout and exterior with a damp cloth.
    • Use a microfiber cloth and mild dish soap to gently clean the tank and outer surfaces. This helps avoid micro-scratches and protects the tank’s integrity
  • Rinse and refill the water tank with fresh, cold tap water.

Every Month – Deep Cleaning

  • Descale the system: Use a 50/50 white vinegar and water solution.
    • * This solution is for cleaning external parts only, like the drip tray or tank. Never run vinegar through the machine or internal filtration system.
  • Run 1 cleaning cycle with the solution, then 2 cycles with clean water.
    • **Wipe down external areas with a microfiber cloth and vinegar solution. For odor or mineral buildup, clean only the tank—not the filtration path—with diluted vinegar.
  • Clean the drip tray, spout, and floater with warm, soapy water.

Every 6–12 Months – Filter Replacement

  • PAC + CF Filters: Replace every 6 months
  • RO Filter: Replace every 12 months
    • Refer to your Filter Life Indicator or join the Filter Club for automatic delivery and reminders.

If You’re Not Using the M1 for a While

Short-Term Non-Use (1–3 weeks)

  • Empty the water tank
  • Leave the tank and lid open to air dry
    • **Wipe down external areas with a microfiber cloth and vinegar solution. For odor or mineral buildup, clean only the tank—not the filtration path—with diluted vinegar.
  • Unplug the unit for safety

Extended Storage (3+ weeks)

  1. Run a full cleaning cycle
  2. Empty all water tanks and dry thoroughly
  3. Remove the filters and store them in a cool, dry place (preferably in an airtight bag if they’re still usable)
  4. Unplug and store the machine in a cool, dry, and shaded area (avoid direct sunlight and humidity)

🛑 Important: Always clean and flush the machine before using it again after long-term storage.

What to Avoid

  • Leaving water in the tank for extended periods (over 24 hours).
  • Exposing the unit to direct sunlight or high humidity, which can damage internal components.
  • Using filters past their intended lifespan or that appear compromised

Power Safety

  • Always unplug the machine before cleaning or storing
    • **Do not immerse the unit in water
  • Allow all internal parts to dry fully before plugging back in

Ideal Storage Conditions

  • Temperature: 40–75°F (4–24°C)
  • Environment: Dry, dust-free, shaded
  • Filter Handling: Store replacements in their original packaging until use
