M1 Reverse Osmosis Countertop Water Purifier - 5-Stage RO Filtration, Remove Lead and Other Chemicals, Hot & Cool Purified Tap Water, Portable

I was an early adopter to the U1 unit offered by RKIN. It is very similar to this unit made by Melissani. After experincing some poor customer service with one particular rep at RKIN and my U1 being in disrepair after following their repair instructions, I decided it was time to make a switch. I found Melissani during an online search and was instantly drawn to it's beautiful design. I had always wanted a white countertop unit. The functions were nearly the same as what I was used to with the U1 as well. The U1 has a few extras that I found myself not using anyway, so I decided to give Melissani a try. I don't regret my decision.

Things were rocky to start. When I got my first unit I was super excited. Pulled it out of the box and noticed an offputting odor, Moved forward with the setup anyway hoping the odor was just that and would eventually diminish. It did. However, the odor affected the smell and taste of the water. It was a cross between musty and chlorine, It was most noticeable in the room temp water as well as the hot water. With the cool water it wasn't as noticeable. I gave the machine some time to break in and did more rinses and cleans on it that I can count hoping by running the machine the taste would improve. It didn't. I finally reached out to Melissani Support to see what they could do. They immediately sent me replacement filters to see if that was the issue. Unfortunately in my case that wasn't the fix. When my water taste still didn't improve, I reached out to them again. After some back/forth they agreed to exchange out the machine. So grateful for that.

I got my replacement unit yesterday and I'm over the moon happy with it. It's absolutely perfect and exactly what I expected at the start from this machine. The new unit didn't carry an odor and the water taste is great! All functions on the unit are working perfectly. My first unit must have been defective.

For those of you who may be considering this M1 unit with Melissani as well as the U1 by RKIN and are curious about some of the differences, I'll go over a few. The newer U1 does have bluetooth capability the M1 does not. My U1 didn't have that capability because I was an early adopter. The hot water temps are adjustable on the U1 and there are a few extra settings the panel offers (including oz size etc) but I found I never used those extra settings. They were just that - extra. My U1 had a very bad paint issue. The paint chipped off on the platform in which the outer reservoir tank sat. The black paint chips did eventually get into the filters of my U1 machine. There was no way it couldn't. The silver paint on my water spout also cracked over time and looked terrible.

The M1 by Melissani is designed so that there is no paint chipping. The front panel has that beautiful white shiny paint but the body of the unit is made of a matte white material. It's durable and hard to scratch. You will not be having that paint issue with the body of the M1. Jury is out on the silver spout head, and that will be revealed in time. The U1 does remineralize the water, the M1 doesn't. Perhaps Melissani may offer remineralization drops for the water on a subscription in the future? Either way, if they don't, it's not hard to obtain drops if remineralization is a big thing for you. Customer Service does take some time with Melissani but they do deliver what they promise and that means a lot to me. Overall I think the M1 is a great value and I couldn't be happier with my unit. Really looking forward to doing more business with Melissani. Thank you!!

Love the water system

I’m completely addicted to my countertop Melissani reverse osmosis machine. It looks nice and the water taste incredible. I can rest easy that there’s no contaminants in the water and no microplastics.

I have a very expensive permanent system but recently sold my house to rent for a couple of years. Bought this in June 24 and it has easily paid for itself in savings from not having to buy bottled water. It works equally as well as my expensive permanent system. I am very pleased and going to pass it on to my parents once I buy a new home.
